What are you going to use as a tank sealer? I’ve tried both Red Kote and Kreeme without good long term success on motorcycle tanks. Worked for a few years then de bonded from the metal resulting in sheets of elastic based goo plugging up valves and lines. If anyone has used something that’s currently on the market and has performed for 10 years it'd be great to hear about it.
Regardless, great looking job on the inside of that tank. My failures were all on enclosed tanks that were mechanically and chemically etched as best as possible. Blasting looks like it removed most of the embedded rust; maybe that’s the key to success.
Plan on brazing or welding the top back on?

Ha olyman yes it does never zoomed in on it but it does look like that lunar landings. Got some time put the plate on and tacked it. greenandgold I'm going to try por15 gas tank sealer who knows maybe it won't work but I at least have to try it. Plan is to weld it up but I have one spot that I think is going to give me a little trouble, somebody ran over something at one time and put a nice big dent in it I brought it out but the metal is very thin.

Coming along nicely! Curious how the shipping was on the gb track ? I thought I saw a price of 550, seemed pretty fair but was curious on how hard the shipping would be on the wallet ! sjjbib it wasn't to bad I can't remember off hand what exactly it was but I had to put a down payment to reserve a track. The track I got from sledtracks was around 625 plus the shipping and it came fedex and the delivery guy wouldn't deliver it because i had to sign for it strange.

Great pics. What gauge is your patch panel? 18/24? Looks like you cut it oversized and are welding lap joints? Curious how you brave tank repairers are going about things.
How thin was the OE bottom panel you cut out from all the rust?

greenandgold I used 13 gauge for the gas tank plate and 1/8 for the tunnel repair. The old piece that I took out was pretty thin in spots especially where the long dent was you can see where I welded to build and fill it in. Where the plate is the old piece I couldn't weld the pin holes ended up soldering them but I wasn't to sure it was going to hold up. I guy told me to put the por15 tank repair in it but it had to be clean in order for it to work.

Found another hole on the other side of the tank. Trying to fill in the little pin holes and smoothing out the welds.
