66 is good to go. olyman, you're really making me look bad. You keep getting more sleds ready, and I keep procrastinating! Well, I guess I'm doing a good job of making myself look bad Here's the status of my 67 Oly restoration. Its been sitting on the assembly table for well over a year now. I just can't get motivated to put it all back together. I keep struggling with the condition of the hardware. Nice new shiny paint on everything and having to use crappy looking nuts and bolts has discouraged me. My purist view on restoration hinders me with using hardware that isn't original. I've had this sled for 8 years or more, someday......LOL So this is what I SHOULD be working on!!

Holy cow your 66 is looking sweet! Don't worry about the speed, can't rush perfection I hear you on the fasteners. I find myself often reusing as much OEM as possible, usually because I rarely have any new fine thread hardware on hand. So each bolt or screw I take to the wire wheel. I personally don't like painted hardware as it never looks good to me with some missing after cranking on it. Just my 2c, but it gets you started....

I also hear you about reusing original fasteners. My very first project was a 71 Nordic and I used all the original that I could. Lots of wire wheeling. After that it was explained to me that new fasteners are inherently stronger for the simple reason that they are new. Next project it was all new nuts and bolts and I've never looked back. Never seize on everything except torque bolts. It's a pleasure to assemble. I use stainless on the high visibility areas and standard zinc plated everywhere else. You've done such a nice job on the chassis, it looks great. Fresh fasteners will look right at home. I urge you to swallow hard, take the leap, and install new hardware. You won't be sorry.

OK guys, I will heed your sound advice and go for it. This 67 deserves to hit the snow next year so I'm going to get going on it. I like the idea of the stainless hardware too so will go that route. I do have some NOS items I got from 775 that will make certain things "pop" and make it a more detailed job.
