You guys must have projects on the go... I for example have the 66 sitting there waiting to be finished. Its no further than when I talked about it on a different thread. Just needs grease, oil in the case, seals pushed in after verifying the alignment of everything. Then screws to hold the hood and bumper down and some seat time to see what needs help still. I also found the original windshield strap so that will be replacing the black one thats on there now. I has the original "petina" . ...But this thing has been on hold because of a) life, and b) trying to get the 640 done... That's a whole other topic...

Nope, no words necessary except maybe arrrgh. By the way, who's the dish on the black dot? Haha Joeoly, I found that picture on the internet many, many moons ago. Probably pre-2010. It's probably on David's site. I'm enjoying this little project, I've been putting it off for a few years now. I finally got tired of wiping up the leaking chaincase oil. This thing leaked BAD! It would be nearly empty in 2 days. Plus it needed a new (used and hopefully good enough!) track put on it. The last time I rode it a couple weeks ago a piece of track was smacking the tunnel. Numerous bars were beginning to poke through also. Limped it home 10 miles.....good times! The track I just removed was on there since about fall 2004 I actually purchased it from one of YOU Houligans on this site back then when I just found and joined oldskidoosleds v1 around 2004? It served me quite well over the years, lots of miles and smiles. I paid $100 back then, and sold it for $30 today to a co-worker for his trailer 😎

eesh - been there done that. Those look like kimpex sprockets that blew a flat..? Olyman, I would have to say yes, probably Kimpex. I'm now looking at the original invoice from Recreational Leisure Corp. Dated 10/14/2004. I keep meticulous records, LOL. Wow, these lasted quite a while. These were part # 04-102. The original intent on this "little" project was to replace the front axle seals and track. But once i got the rear axle on the bench i could see more clearly that the sprockets had some cracks and the teeth were really worn and should be changed. Once I took the flange off, the driver fell apart. I'm happy it didn't grenade on me while out on a ride! I've got new sprockets in my parts stash from Goose. Pair of white and pair of black. Gonna put the black ones on the back.

Whew, Glad to hear she's an anonymous internet gal. Started worrying afterwards that she might be your wife or your daughter and I'd over stepped my bounds with my wise cracking

LOL awesome. I've seen that picture before as well.
Thats good Doo640 - quite often any drive sprocket gets beat up bad when the track is not good anymore. Likely good that it lasted this long. I am also running those sprockets front and back on my 70 and I'm using a 79 motoski mirage track that I cut all the vertical clips off. The track was free, and in better shape than anything else I had on hand. Did that back in 06 so I hope it lasts a few more years yet before I am doing the exact same thing. Good luck. The 640 looks like its in great shape!

That picture IS pretty neat. The girl in the picture is a nearly perfect doppelganger for a girl I once dated in the mid 80s. Funnier yet is that my wife was good friends with her. And no, it's not THAT small of a town I lived in, LOL. Oh, to be young again! Its hard to think that the girl in that picture would likely be about 68-70 years old now
Olyman, I try to keep the Nordic functioning well. Between Goose, 775 (dave) and others here I have done a decent job. It could certainly use some cosmetic work as it's technically original. I do know the seat was recovered at one time in its life. I am the second owner and picked it up in 2003 or 2004 from a co-worker (his grandfather bought it new). The seat needs work as the wood frame has been eaten badly by carpenter ants or termites.
If you look closely at the picture of the stack of bogies, you can see that unfortunately one of six bolt heads sheared off leaving the bolt in the aluminum cross shaft. Bummer, but really glad there weren't more. I'd like to get that out of there and save $18 on a replacement. Anyone ever try? I assume drilling it out and re-tapping wouldn't be too difficult? I could possibly submit it to my friendly maintenance guys here at the manufacturing plant where I work. As Jeff Spicoli would say: "They have an awesome set of tools!" One of them once machined a secondary clutch spring seat for my 81 Citation.
Sorry to anyone not familiar with the Spicoli reference, LOL .....

Trying to get at a 73 298 Blizzard. My brother and I had one back in the day and this is our project together. Health issues stalled my participation for a while, but I can still give advice to him. Ha!
A big shout out to Bud Manzari (on this site as doolittle) for his time and help.
I need to figure out how to post a picture:-(
