GOt more progress happening. Got the drive axle mounted, track installed and looking good enough to try to see how it works. Although still lots to do, you get the general idea here of what Im going for. I am going to use that black trim (spauldings) on the hood because I like how it looks. Still unsure of a lot of things, but its getting close enough that I am going to finish without doing a nice painting just to see how it all works together... you get the idea. My homemade hack seat looks ok on there lol. Also took that tach off the left side there, and plan to move it to the hood somewhere...

Looking good! Nice work on that seat and rear pick up bumper too. Looking forward to seeing/hearing the snow trials next winter.

I really like what you have done with this sled. Very creative/inspiring mods and the final look is awesome. Great work.

Thank you kindly! It's no show prize - I built it to use it. Hope it doesn't cause too many headaches later!

Nicely done Vince! It came together nicely. No doubt you have been a student of details over the years as you have incorporated some excellent ones into this build. The offset spindles, the aluminum chain case and disk brake set up, running board support delete all cool but your custom pipe and working that suspension into place takes it up several notches. It sounds good and the throttle crisp. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like in person! The nice part about the finish you have on it is it looks excellent and at the same time knowing you....you won't be afraid to use it!

Thank you for all the kind words Grant! Hell's ya I'll be using it - I'm sure I'll have fixes but the bones are there now. Come on down for some blue smoke cologne anytime!

Happy to report that I took it for the maiden rip this morning, and it worked far better than I expected it would. The 121 track has a lot more traction than the old one did, and the suspension feels like it was meant to be there (SO FAR). Its definitely a lot easier on the spine in the thin snow / grass areas. The tuned up engine, new clutch and pipe seem to work good together. Has a noticeable power band up high and lifts the skis easily - weird feeling with an old rig like that!
Only complaint so far is I might wanna address the soft front suspension. It compresses pretty easily when landing, as the rear handles much more than the front wants to. Maybe just adding a leaf or two - though that will make the skis even heavier... is there a single leaf out there that would work instead? I should ask Colin what kind of plastic skis he uses on his 340 Blizzard...

Looking great Vince! That thing really delivers the mail! I think the early 80s blizzards had a single leaf, but I have no clue if it would fit on those original skis. My gut tells me no. I think the Blizzard ski leaf is wider and would not mount on the 70 Ski. Congrats on that sled though. You put a lot of thought and effort into it so it's a great reward to see it come to fruition. Ride on!

Thanks Mark! It definitely was a long time coming. At the end of it I totally forgot all the little things I did on the engine alone like grinding the ports out on the jug and the crankcase. Ya for the springs I will have to do some looking / testing etc. I have a lot of leafs I could try out. Maybe one of those lower upside down helper springs with the bumpers from a tnt would be a good place to start testing. Move on from there

Hi Vince: Watched the video with envy! Looks and sounds great. For what its worth, I recall reading somewhere that the heavier sleds the era, I'm guessing nordics, tnts etc had more robust springs. Assuming spring length coincides, perhpas there might be some solution in your inventory of parted sleds.

Great point Grant! I'm betting that I have something like that up in the heap - will have to go on a shopping spree upstairs soon
