Thanks Joe, I was thinking the same thing. I'll have to have another arts and crafts session on that with some aluminum..

That sled you did definitely inspired me for this! I think there's more than a few of us out there creating their own version of the keg cruiser!
That pipe started out on an FIII + my extensions and miscellaneous ball socket joints I cut out of scrap mufflers. The exh flange I cut off of an old can muffler then welded everything together.

I use that white heat/fireproof insulation at work. The brand name is Kaowool. Works well....

That's good to know Dando. I might go the easy route and make a deflector shield that mounts to the gas tube area. The fiii pipe used to have an aluminum shield with some kind of asbestos looking material under it. I might be able to use some of it again.. maybe? We'll see.

Really cool suspension set-up. Very creative! I like the way it sits with the running boards. Great work.

I have put together two single cylinder oval sleds, and used the RV skid with a 116" track. I would suggest changing the limiter strap adjustment system. I used a piece of angle iron across the front arms with a hole drilled through it. Secured the front of the strap to the original location, and used a piece of flat stock welded to threaded rod. Ran the threaded rod through the home in the angle iron so I could easily adjust the limiter strap.

That's a great idea. I just finished putting new strap and modifying the front cross piece to keep it from moving around, but making an easy adjuster like that is great thinking. How did you keep the rod from moving down into the track when compressed? Or did you keep it attached to the angle iron tightly and let the strap do the bending?

The threaded rod won't move, the strap will just loose tension as the front arm compresses. The rod and nut will just limit how far the front arm will extend. Take a look at a Wahl suspension. I used it for ski pressure adjustment on an oval sled. The cast citation style secondaries week great. Made a custom bracket bolted to the chain case for hydraulic brakes.

You can also use a nut on both sides of the angle iron, and tighten them up.

finally got the worst part done (i hope lol). The drive shaft is all together finally and it fits too. All I need for it is a little paint, a few bearings and a new circlip to hold the sprocket in place. Had to make a few custom tools along the way, and also had to cut it down about 1" on the right side and turn a new bearing shoulder for it. Now I can finally try to put this together for at least round 1 lol
