That is BEAUTIFUL Doo640ER. You did a wonderful job. Thanks a million for sharing the pics of the progress. I can only imagine the hours you put into it. I have had a 67 for many years, a fairly good resto/refurbish candidate but I just never seem to get going on it. Was all excited about it at first but just kinda lost the urge. Maybe if I ever stop messin with 90s sled I will get the old girl back on the snow.

Thanks everyone for the replies and accolades! Here are the rest of the pictures I promised of the final project. Of course there are some tweaks yet to be made. I still need to give it a final tune, and I'd like to either locate a better front bumper or spend a little more time bending this one back in shape on the one side as it doesn't fit as well as it should. The brake cable needs some adjusting also.
Here she is running for the first time since 2011. A little fine tuning yet to be made...

And as Olyman eluded to,.... the old girl won the honor of Best Antique Snowmobile at the first show she attended in Toledo, Ohio on Sept 26th, just a week after completing the restoration.
Thanks for checking out my project! So now the question, what doo I work on next? LOL

Well Bonsey, I have been scratching my head for a few days now about this. It's always interesting to learn more about these old sleds and if the black stripes on the skis were original, then so be it. As Olyman showed, there certainly were some brochures that seemed to show the black stripe accents. Strange that I've not seen any pictures of a restoration that included these stripes. Like other sleds that rolled off the line in Valcourt, not everything shown in a brochure was carried-over to production, right? But i really like the provenance of your skis. The skis on mine were originally from Brian Stiles, and transported to Ohio by 1970TNT Joe K while he was passing through on his way to Montana I think. They sure looked original and had no black stripes on them before they got blasted a few years ago. Maybe the black striped skis were a Canada-only option, Haha

Whether or not you put stripes on, its still awesome. You could argue whatever you want on that IMO. Maybe you are right with the region specific. The only reason I would ever put stripes on my 66 (if I ever did a redoo on it) would be b/c I could see old stripes on it beforehand.
As for whats next Mark I'd say that f/a is screamin for attention!

Hi Guys, thanks for the comments on the 67. Yep, I really like the original stickers. Always makes me wonder who put them on all those years ago. Was it the original owner or second, or third owner? A few years ago I purchased two of the Plaisted Polar Expedition decals, and I had planned on putting them on this sled once the restoration was complete. I'm debating whether to doo it or not? As the current owner, perhaps it is my duty to add my own personal touch as others have done in the past. Then the next owner can sit there and wonder, LOL. I guess I'll have to stick them on with some tape to see if they add or detract from the current look of the hood. Got any opinions?

Doo640ER the sled looks great the way it is, I like the looks of old decals on sleds. But.....The Polar expedition decals are cool also. I think its "what ever floats your boat". To me, either way is awesome. Bones

Backtracking to the black stripe on the skis "debate", I've got this poster on the wall in my garage and was staring at it the other day (I doo a lot of staring at Sled stuff). Anyone else have this poster? Take a close look at the ski loops on the 67, is that a hint of black I see on them? .

It does! Even looks like someone ran a thin roller around the outer edge too?? Just a pin stripe is all you'd need on the loop. Would a thin black sticker do the job? I bet you can find some pin striping from any auto store that is just thin & black and you just cut it to fit lengthwise. No one would be the wiser.
