Been sidetracked by fishing and landscaping, not that fishing is a chore My 247 project is sitting on the bench patiently waiting for me to come back and I'll be picking up it's future recipient in July. it was 92 here in SW MI today, can't wait for snow!

Right on skidog - jealous of the fishing lol! Looking forward to seeing the progress. Man yes it was hot here too in SW ontario. Much more reasonable recently. I have been working on a few garden tractor projects. Once that dies down it should be time to do a 1nce over on the working herd lol. I'm hoping for a good winter so i can try out a few 'new' to the herd (66 & 71).

Did someone say fishing???!!! Ha! I managed to get out a couple weeks ago to try my luck in the stream behind my house. I caught two big, nearly identical Cats! Are pictures of Cats allowed on this site? Hope I don't get thrown off the site, LOL

Way to go 72Blizzard340, at least you are working with a 2 cycle engine. Maybe you are aware, the valve cover for the 71 series engines was re-designed near the end of their run life, it really reduced the grim/slim that the 71 were famous for.

the poor old jimmys are definitely known for there clean friendly workspace. yes i have a few of the 4 cylinders around here but no updated valve covers. unfortunately the impeller shaft is stuck so i got it lubed so tomorrow i should have it loosened up turning 360. no antifreeze in the pan. the rack looks good so i should be able to avoid a run away. these detroits can be a load of trouble if you dont know what your doing, but we have a truck wrecking yard so we know a bit about them. 6 speed new process seems to be decent and tracks and drivers are all pretty solid. cab corners are getting ugly just enough that it might need a panel. the whole things made from flat plate so it shouldnt be to hard of a fix. all around not a bad project, just a tad bit wide at 11 foot 1 inch.

OK Guys.....I've got myself a hodgepodge.... engine - 76 x 66 - 299cc...no type on tag slide suspension....man this thing is heavy!!!! So what do I have? I'm pretty sure the engine and suspension don't belong on that chassis.

My take: Sled looks like a 65 that someone installed a early 70s ground leveler slide suspension onto. Normally the suspension is painted black. Looks to be similar if not identical to the one on my 70 TNT 292. Goose repops the Hyfax for those. The engine could be from a 67-73 Oly? Looks like you've got yourself a project. What's the story behind this latest find?

I don't have much info. I bought it from a son liquidating his late fathers "junk" pile. He didn't know much about it.
It looks like it was plated in 1995, and had been given a thick coat of primer and paint at some point.
I've got quite a few things on the go right now....so its on the backburner at least until September.

Pretty cool project blizz, and having a 2stroke screamer is pretty cool too! I have seen some interesting YouTube videos of those things. Main thing is if it wants to runaway just have a plan in plan to snuff it out. It sounds like you'll be showing us videos of that thing going anywhere and everywhere
