Was unlucky at the 62nd CPTC races in Beausejour, MB this past weekend. Any advice on tried and tested ways to straighten bend aluminum engine fins? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you Day 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwsj995fyfc Race #1 time 0:07:50

Holy Heck!! What in the heck happened? Did you lose a ski? Hope you are okay,... I honestly don't know how you're not in the hospital. There were a few rolls there where I could not differentiate you rolling from the sled rolling. Oh that poor sled. Is it salvageable?

Actually its the camera angle that makes it look really bad. There was a 50 mph cross wind towards the infield and I think that pushed the sled low and my body momentum continued in a straight line causing a weight shift to the right and that's whyIi tipped over. Sled hit the snow infield and barrel rolled and I mostly slid along the ice beside the tumbling machine. I had some aches bruises from Saturday's crash but nothing from this particular incident.

Colin, Watched you race both days. You was kicking butt. Sorry, about the mishaps. What happened to the ski on day 1?

Holy crap Colin! Very glad to hear you are not worse for wear. Too bad that it happens to such a special sled, though it does come with racing. Can’t win if you don’t rip it up! Cudos to you for keeping that old beauty out there and winning too!
I have heard a few things over the years about trying to bend fins on these sleds. Don’t do it without heating them up first. Don’t get too greedy either with how much you go for. There is some flexibility but nothing like steel. I’d also think that you would do it with the head still on the engine so it doesn’t warp. Failing that a really good aluminum welder might be able to repair broken fins, but I’d ask around about that. Just my thoughts, hope it works and good luck!
