Finally got a chance to get out and give the 95 Skandic a little shakedown since I spent all that time working on it. I met up with three other friends and we rode our local Rails to Trails metropark. Did about 21 miles total between the Skandic and the 67 Oly. My friend with the Everest burned down one side, oops. All other sleds ran well. The Skandic seems to have a low end "dead spot" but runs well overall. Wondering if its just too rich since I was running 40:1 mix and the oil injection. I wanted to verify the injection works before running straight gas in it. So I'm hoping it runs a little crisper on my next shakedown. I did verify the oil level dropped in the tank. If its the same, I'll mess with the carbs. I don't think its clutching, at least not the primary since I went through that thoroughly.
Rode this guy the following day on the local trails and roads. Put 27 miles on the old girl. Man this sled run so great!! And is still a blast to ride.

Good to see someone able to put tracks down. Had about 16 inches on the ground for a week in central WI; given the decision making lag in gubberment bureaucracy, had one weekend to hit local trails. Snow’s mostly all gone. Discovered the Safari had eaten a CDI over the summer and the MXZ primer had stuck. Maybe next year.
Did Mr Everest have a hard seizure or something a little acid and a new piston can fix? You are not alone with paranoid feelings surrounding oil pumps. You even went old school with 40:1…..

Hey G&G, he said it needs a piston and rings on the MAG side. Mr. Everest's father is pretty knowledgeable with these 2-strokes and they suspect a bad crank seal. I'm pretty sure the motor has never been opened up and freshened, He offered me the sled as it sits for $350, but I have enough sleds I can't ride, LOL. But I always did want an Everest with that seat.....hmmmm, just maybe.....

Always believed the styling on some of the 77 &78 sleds was, as they say, an acquired taste. Had a 77 TNT F/A sitting in the garage for 20+ years and I still haven’t “acquired” it.
Remember looking at a burgundy 79 Plymouth Volare which had hounds tooth fabric. On first sight I immediately thought of the Everest seat.
I did appreciate the looks of the immediate follow on -1980-- Everest sled. Hood lines were clean, symmetrical, and swoopy. Sort of like a big daddy to that Citation at the end of the line in your pic.
Had a 80 Bliz with a busted up hood and tried to find a donor hood from that year Everest but never was successful. Been looking for a hood from a 1984 Mirage III for 25 years with the same luck.
You keep adding to my nightmares. Oil pumps and crank seals. Only thing missing is stators and CDIs. 440 (I'm assuming) pistons hard to find these day?
