1973 T'NT 340. The Silver Bullet. The Lead Sled. The Silver Slug. Call it what you like, to me it's one of the sharpest fanners Ski Doo made. Also a somewhat innovative model - hi/lo beam, carbide runners, kill switch, handle bar padding and sound reduction to meet 1973 industry standards. It's not the light and sassy T'NT model from previous years, and the 1974 model was light years ahead. I've always been a fan, but never found one complete , a decent unmolested original until I saw this "survivor" a couple months ago. I knew I had to have it. Had to save this piece of history. It was almost 1200 miles away from me though in Cambridge Ontario, lol. Cost me $1500.00 for transport alone. One owner purchased new in 73. 500 original miles. Owner had a cottage on an unserviced winter road and used it to haul supplies, and use on a nearby lake. Used until 1993 and then safely stored covered up in a garage. The sled is incredible. No rust except for two surface blisters under the seat. Original everything including factory carbides with no wear. Most of the original paint was still on the bottom of the skis. Seat is perfect soft and supple original. No dents, not even one little ripple on the ski edges. Track is like it was when uncrated. I stripped it down and degreased everything and replaced all corroded nuts and bolts with OEM NOS duplicates. Had to spray the front of the cab due to license plate holes and chafing. Minor touch ups on chassis. Underhood paint is untouched factory original.

YOWZA!! What a beauty Dave! I don't think I've ever seen a cleaner example of a bullet. Congrats on your score. If it were me, I would find it (nearly) impossible to ever take that museum piece out of the garage. But I sure could drink a lot of beer just looking at it! Just wow.
How about a few more pics? Would love to see under the hood,...a little sled porn please

The exhaust was 100% rust free, however the original silver was flaking off, so I had to paint it...

Remember the hub-bub about them back in the day being the first non-yellow Ski Doo. Buddy traded in a 72 Oly 399 for a 340 Bullet. Poor winter and having turned 16 meant little time on the snow to actually see how it ran.
Fast forward to 1999, when arriving in N Minn there were lots and lots and lots of Bullets for sale, cheap. Wound up buying 6 in order to get enough good parts to make a single runner. One of the things that left a lasting impression was how heavy the slide suspension was. That alone probably was responsible for some of the slug observations. They were heavy indeed.
Fuel bung outlet on tank becoming brittle and breaking wasn’t a lot of fun either. Mice seemed particularly attracted to the curlie Q exhaust as a Hotel 6 substitute.
Yours certainly looks good. Going to be a runner? Cool factor thru the roof ……..

If that Steel suspension had been aluminum, it would have been ten miles per hour faster Al! May take on a vintage ride sometime..

What's this "snow" that you speak of? I thought I'd be mowing my lawn by March 15 with the lack of winter we had, but a couple messy storms in March delayed this plan. I didn't even put fuel in the tank!

Well, as they say you are not alone. Had two ops to ride in central WI. First was after a thick and wet 7 inch Dec snow. Just barely enough for known smooth ground, but rain followed shortly. Last 2 weeks had a total of about 15 new inches so fired up a pair of sleds for a joy ride. Rain held off for 2 days. Except for the inevitable (or should I say predictable) primer issues the pups started right up. Here’s a pic of one of the LOL (last of the leafers). Am getting to appreciate single carbed 377’s more and more. Easy to pull over, light (relatively speaking)---fun. Hood in dire need of new paint. Keep thinking about it until I inspect the pop up light assembly and then loose my ambition.
