Picked up a72 TnT back in 2016 and have been trying to bring it back to life since. Because this sled has fought me every square inch of the way it's been an on and off project but it's finally ready for snow trials, if i only had snow! I've held off on any cosmetic improvements other than cleaning because I want to make sure I like it enough to keep it. Here's what I started with, solid chassis and a 343 in a box. Also a Kohler 440as2 as an extra.

I felt really guilty about sacrificing the Everest as it was in pretty good shape but my wife had to remind me that I can't save them all. I pulled the motor and also the brake and wiring harness then began grafting everything into the 72 chassis. it's no longer period correct but I'm okay with that as I really enjoy returning them to use more than showing. I'll post more pics tomorrow and complete the story. Thanks for looking!

Thank you for the great pics and sharing. Man do I ever know what you are talking about. Seems like all of my choices in sleds require this amount of labour and patients lol. Your sled really looks quite good as it is. From the sounds of it you found a good combo 340 top and bottom. Should work out good. Good luck and looking forward to updates.

Nice project, keep it up. No Fear!, LOL I always laugh at some of the decals that have been slapped on these old rigs. If you slap on a Monster Energy sticker, you're guaranteed an extra 5mph on the top end.

Excellent project, well done with all the mods. I'm betting you like the 340. I've got one and it's a fun ride. If you decide to do full cosmetics I can give you a little advice.

ThanksJoe! Not sure I'm as good a painter as you but if I can get it close that'd be sweet. Hoping February is better for snow here in SW Michigan, really itching to ride it.

Well I finally had a chance to get the TNT on the snow and boy was it a blast! It will definitely be staying in the herd and will now be getting a cosmetic makeover to match the mechanicals(Sadly the No Fear sticker will have to go). She fired on the first pull after sitting for weeks so that made for a good day.

Ya man, way to go. Full cosmetics will be a fun job. Will take more time and more money than you expect so be ready for that, especially if you doo a seat. Well worth it when it's finished though, very rewarding. Start by the month of May be done by the end of September, very comfortable timing. Plow ahead, good luck, I love these efforts.

Looks great. If your 343 is a later one. it has a much larger oil seal on the mag side these had a tendencey to pop out other wise a great engine. Some shops made plates to hold them in. The kohler 2as is a fantastic engine their down fall is the electronic ignition a lot were changed back to points as used in the kohler 2ax. These motors powered the Merc snow twisters Rupp magnums and Skiroule Lasers.I have several 340 and 440 with Walbro float carbs and love them.

Right on man, great to hear that the old tnt rocks for you. Good luck on the re-doo. Joe has some fantastic abilities and support. Wish I could doo them as good as he!
Interesting 69nordic - I didint know those seals could pop out. Wonder if thats something that happens more on improper sealant + not enough compression on the case halves, or if they were all heading that way eventually. Zero experience with a kohler other than a 7hp. I know those Merc's had a tendency of flying lol.
