Does anyone know if oversize pistons are available for a '75 245 RV?? Or any other pistons that it could be bored to fit?? What about 294 tnt pistons? Thanks, Dave.
oldonelunger
they are hard to find.
I used kohler ka295 pistons. requires a bore to +.060" though.

Thanks, How did the Kohler pistons work, and where did you get them?? Are they the single L ring type like the originals? Thanks, Dave.
oldonelunger
the original Kohler pistons where manufactured by Elko. they have 18mm wrist pins, single L ring, and the compression height is about as close as you will get. 55.5mm bore.
The dome is higher than stock so the squish band needed to be reshaped. the ring locating pin needs to be moved to clear the boost port.
mine were old Wiseco stock. I bought 3 sets
I thought about using elan 250T pistons and moving the locating pin to clear the boost port. I liked the idea of a single L ring instead.

What do you think about using 294 tnt pistons, they are just about the right oversize, and have a single L ring? The locator pin might be an issue though huh?
oldonelunger
I don't know anything about 294's. whats the bore size? Compression height?

250 Elan twin & 294 pistons will not work. Pin is too small.

Bones, Any ideas?? What would you use? Thanks, Dave.

Hey Oldonelunger: If you don't mind, would you post a few details about how you relocated the pins? Like how did you pull existing pin (heat/tools/methods used) and what you did to relocate it (chuck up piston in a press?? what you used as a replacment pin?) Been thinking of relocating a few pins myself....Thanks -al
oldonelunger
I ground the existing pins VEEEERRRRRY carefully with a dremel and the thinnest cutoff wheel I could find. I had my buddy Roy press the new pins in because he had done it before several times. Use a letter drill to drill the hole where you want it. Then use the next size up bit, cut a length of the shank off and press fit in the hole. This way you end up with a nice press fit and the material is hardened drill rod.

Howdy. As oldonelunger says, " 295" Kohler slugs.
Send `em off to Roy to get the locating pin moved.
