Sealing gas tanks in late 60's ski-doos has been mentioned many times. I almost hate asking again. But the tank in my 67 is leaking around the top where the ski leg brackets mount to it. I didn't notice it when restoring it, seems I spent most time concentrating on leaks in the bottom. Anyway, is there a good way to seal up these leaks with something now. I dont want to tear the machine apart again. Anything I can pour in the tank and tip the machine on its side to coat the inside?

POR 15 WILL SEAL THE INSIDE TO PREVENT RUST BUT DON'T BELIEVE IT WILL STOP THEM. ONLY THING I HAVE FOUND IS TO CUT INTO THEM. IF IT IS LEAKING BUY THE SKI LEGS YOU MAY HAVE TO REPAIR A SIDE PANEL. BEST WAY TO DOO THAT IS TO WELD IN A NEW PANEL.

in motorcycle shops you can find a product called "Kreem" it has several parts, a tank cleaner, a cleaner neutralizer & prep, and a two part epoxy tank liner...it's incredible stuff!
my tip is remove the motor so tipping at all angles is easier and buy a NPT fitting with a 1/2 inch hose nipple to put in the tank pik-up opening, this makes it easier to pour the stuff out into a drain pan while rocking it over on the right side....not as messy.

MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE IT ON IT'S "NOSE" FOR AWHILE. THERE IS A VOID UP FRONT AND IF YOU DON'T GET IT GOOD THE GAS MAY GO BEHIND THE COATING AND CAUSE IT TO PEEL

If you know its leaking around the front of the tank at the ski legs, what about trying to seal it from the outside? just a thought...

I caught that on my 67,it was a couple popped spot welds. I don't know how to stop that leak from the outside without welding. A temporary outside repair repair would be bondo if you could get at it easy. Very temporary. If you have already restored the sled I would think the leak would be causing problems with the fresh paint.
