I have a 1967 super olympique, has anybody ever swapped the three pin secondary clutch out for a newer style secondary such as one from a 1970? I have heard that the newer style is way better for up and downshifting, compared to the 3 pin. I did notice that the 67 secondary center shaft of the clutch is getting close to the steering stem. Thanks!!

Hi Doonut, yes this has been done successfully. Not by me, but I'm nearly certain that Olyman (Vince) has done it. I almost went this route when I restored my 67, but I chose to keep it all original with the three pin style. Hopefully he checks in here soon. I was just in contact with him yesterday regarding a project he is undertaking on a 70 Oly.

Hey guys, ya I did that swap on my 66 - 6pin. I replaced it with the newer helix style from a 68 I believe. It worked a lot better. the maiden voyage with the 6pin was brutal. It would just squak and burn the belt, and would hardly move in the heavy wet snow. After swapping it was never a problem again. I just had to drill a few new holes in the angle iron to move it closer to the primary. You might not need to on a 67, but for whatever reason I had to so i could use the same belt as all my other sleds. I'll try to find some pictures to help you out.
