Looking for a new, NOS or reproduction brake cable for my 67 Olympique. Would prefer the cable and housing, but could likely settle for just a new cable. I thought about going to the local bicycle shop, but figured I'd attempt the "original" route first.
Thanks, send me a PM if you can help.

I stopped by my local bicycle shop / dealer yesterday to see if they could hook me up. They had two styles of cables. The brake cable was too think for the housing but the de-railer cable was perfect and was the same thickness as what was originally on the 67 Oly. And long too! I have enough cable remaining to replace another brake or throttle cable. The cable was $4.25 out the door. Bargain!
I used the leaded end under the hood where it attaches to the brake lever. There are three holes on the lever that the cable is supposed to snake through and get secured by just friction I believe. I just sent the wire through the most outer hole and into the housing then up to the brake lever. The brake lever just has a simple hole for the cable to wrap around. Luckily I have two NOS cable protectors that are basically little springs that the cable passes through, and they in turn pass through the hole in the lever. This prevents damage to the cable itself. I used a small section of 1/4 inch copper tubing as a crimp/clamp to secure the cable end. I forgot to get a few pictures but will try tonight. It looks great and the brake works so much better now. Anyone with a 66 or 67 probably knows what I mean, LOL
Trying to just do a few things to the sled since there is a show I plan to attend this Sunday. Then another one in July. I'll post info in the general discussion forum pertaining to these.

Right on Mark - good job finding the cable that fits. Interested to see how you did the protector thing for the flipper loop. I have one cable that still has that on it (throttle on the 66) and never found a good way of replicating it.
