What size track was on a 74-77 olympic with sliders (340)? Was is the same thing as an Everest track? Were the skid-frames the same between them? Anyone know the distance between the rails, and how wide are the sliders on these skids?

Question says "74-77 / slides". 75 - 79 Oly 340 all had the same suspension, 74 was different. The Oly track is 120" L x 15" W, the Everest track is 124" L x 16.5" W. The suspensions are the same design but the Everest rails are longer and the cross shafts / arms are longer ( wider) for everest. I will measure the rail spacing later. Bones

Interesting Bones. Thank you. The reason I am wondering is I want to put slide rails on my 70 and convert it to run a 121" track. I already have that on hand, and I have a hex shaped drive axle from a 79 citation 4500. So I guess something that would help is arms from something that isn't ~17" wide. Maybe a mid 70's oly or something from a late 70's / early 80's citation would be the right way to go? I dont know the difference in width on those. Lots of unknowns there, but should be able to do it with a little effort.
The track has 3/4 lugs so I should likely consider 7 tooth involute sprockets. I haven't measured length of the citation axle, but hope it might work with an aluminum chaincase from a silverbullet. Since the case wont work on my 640 and I already cleaned it up - seems like the right place to use it.

I've been contemplating this too! Keep me in the loop. I may do a parallel project on my 70 Franken Oly.
