Looking good sir! You always have the option of leaving it au-naturel.. on my 148 I sandblasted the jug exterior and just used tremclad stove spray paint. I still like the look it has. But I wouldn't be able to use spray if I didn't already have the jug off. Flat paint is fairly forgiving so you might be ok with a tiny brush and some patience. That jug looks pretty clean so it should stick pretty good. Looking forward to seeing more of this hotrod 67! Haven't painted a silver recoil before but it seems like a generic silver. My 66 is OEM still but has a lot of "patina" where the paint is lol. Looking at David's website at the brochure makes me think that they were trying to match the recoil as close to the aluminum as possible 67 brochure

I used Rustoleum "Dull Aluminun" on the recoil of my 66. I was very satisfied. For painting the jugs no real quick fix for that. You've at least got to get it clean so the paint will bond. A narrow bottle brush with solvent will get in between the fins . You gotta work it because your taking off both grime and paint. Figure half an hour anyway, maybe more. Easier if the jug is removed but I suppose you could do it with jug in place. "VHT" offers an excellent line of engine paints. I've used them and run them and they hold up very nicely. For the jug you would want 500 degree satin black.

Thanks guys for chiming in with some great answers to my never-ending questions. I haven't made much progress lately as it's been way too hot out in the "shop" and one of my cat's near-death experience set me back a few weeks also. I've been searching on line for the necessary supplies. I see Rustoleum also make a high heat paint that supposedly resist heat up to 2000F, WOW. Not sure if it come in Satin black? Vince, yes, I do plan on starting a dedicated thread to share this project with everyone, but may hold off until the weather turns which will build excitement . It's been a labor of love and wish I had more time to dedicate to it so I can just finish it, but not being retired just yet is quite the hindrance! On the other hand, I don't want to wish my life away so I'll be patient, LOL. So many of you on this site have inspired me (and countless others) to complete my own project so it should be fun to share it, and get everyone in the mood for the best winter ever! There will be a LOT of pictures!
