Saddened by the news of the passing of John Jantsch (Blizzard GR) who lost his battle with cancer. John was extremely knowledgeable of the old Blizzards and IFS sleds having worked for both the Deckers and Bombardier when it was in Wausau WI. He was a great friend to the vintage ski doo world and will be missed to all that were lucky enough to meet or correspond with him. I'm sure his good friend Phil Mickelson was there to greet him at heavens gate.

Thanks Oldcanary for sharing that sad news. I always enjoyed reading his posts. No doubt he was instrumental in developing this sport and making it what is is today. I never had the privilege of meeting or dealing with him, but wish I had for sure. I bet he could keep an audience captivated for hours. God speed John.

Sad day for sure. John and I had become great friends over the last decade or so, all thanks to this vintage site in its earlier format. Even though we were separated by close to 1000 miles, we were in constant contact. John had the answer to 99% of my dumb questions, and almost always a picture to share of whatever we were discussing. I had the pleasure to meet John face to face in September 2018, a few days after his first surgery. We had planned a meet when passing through his area on vacation when he became ill and needed the surgery. I tried to cancel the visit as I was worried about disturbing his rest and rehabilitation, but he insisted that we stop by. Glad we did!!! RIP John!

They say it's never too late but you don't get any younger. I fear there will be more of these announcements as time marches on. Very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Very sad news. BGR was one of the greats on this site. He will be sadly missed. My condolences to his family, friends and anyone who knew him through here.

Rest In Peace my Dear Friend... You will truly be missed by all your old Blizzard friends/owners and former racers like myself who could always count on you to solve our problems. You and Phil are now back together to share each others company and stories...

Sad to hear. Truly one of the great sources of knowledge on the early 'Doo racers. And a great guy!

The weight of the big picture...I'm sure you're feeling it here. We have our lives, our wives, our kids, our hobbies. It's all so perfect...until it's not.

When I was 13 and just getting into this hobby John set me up with a clutch for my 71 Blizzard and bars for my 73. After that anytime I got anything blizzard related he would walk me through and guide me along. I only ever talked to him on the phone 5 or 6 times but when ever i did I walked away with more knowledge then i knew what to do with. He gave someone my age the time and patience to learn and for that there will be a endless amount of regret that i never got out there to visit him. I still have few emails to remissness over but I will be thinking of John the next time I pull the covers off of the Blizzards. RIP John Jantsch
