Can anyone tell me if this is the original tail light on my 67 Oly? The socket is shot since one of the bulb terminals is broken. I will need to retrofit a new 194 bulb socket into it if I am to use this fixture again. I just wanted to be sure this is the original and worth my time and effort. Its either replace the socket or replace the entire metal base if anyone has one available for sale?

I don't have one to compare against but from the pics I've seen that's the right one. The PM is correct. Although the socket is broken the light still looks quite good in the picture. Good luck fixing it, or finding it.

Thanks for chiming in Olyman. I also located a picture or two that showed the "PM" on the lens which to me confirms this is the OEM light. I will move forward with replacing the socket. I purchased these two new sockets and I'll figure out which one is best for this job once I get them in my hand. The were cheap, LOL but it should doo the job.

So the board is a little slow so I thought I'd update this thread with my progress. I received my new sockets yesterday and after fooling around with them and seeing which one would work best, I went with the top one in the picture in the previous post. I grabbed the needle-nose pliers and went to town putting my on little "twist" on the mounting bracket. I bent it over in the opposite direction and figured it would slide right under the previous socket's soft rubber base. It seems to work great. As is, it is mounted fairly snug but to be safe I will need to add a little epoxy or other adhesive to make sure it stays in place. I had to cut some of the original soft rubber socket off so that the bulb is recessed enough under the lens. I also bent the solder tabs over so that they would clear the fixture. I'll doo a little soldering later on today and there you have it, should be good as new. Looking forward to finishing this light project so I can get it mounted to the new Goose seat. "New" as in I've had it for two years now, LOL.

Well done! That's a great fix for it - good to go for another lifetime!

Up before dawn this morning with soldering on my mind while enjoying my coffee. Got the light mounted also on the seatback and broke put the Novis #2 plastic polish to clean up the lens. I love that stuff. The lens looks nearly new now. Hooked it up to the battery charger and there you have it. All done. Now on to the next part of this 67 Oly restoration. I plan to start a dedicated thread for the project.

That looks great. I tripped over the donor chassis for my '67 super the other day, so I guess I could say I did some work on it...
