Wondered if anyone has ever successfully welded a carb before? Seems like a tall task but since its aluminum (I assume) that it's quite possible. I just realized that one of my stockpiled busted carbs is a 66 super carb HL209A. But has some broken flanges. One is the mount, another is the throttle stop screw thing. Just wondering your thoughts photos.app.goo.gl/eg8iPKJT9bk5GZ3t7photos.app.goo.gl/sr8ELV5wYxQdXxrL8Not sure if the pics work or not. Trying from my Google acct. The tag I have on it mentions it came from a 68 oly.

You can try, but the combination of gas/oil impegnated in a very porus casting makes it very difficult. It will never be clean enough. Back in the day, my Dad had one example carb he showed to everyone who asked about it.

Tom is right on. Let more members chime in before you "doo" something. I've had great luck with JB weld, even tapping for bolts and screws. Good News: For the flange, if it was mine, I'd drill small holes and put a pin on each side of the hole before JB Weld. Bad News: The small bracket is going to be tough one, pretty small area to build up. But, it's worth a try (to use JB Weld).

Great points guys. I would also think that if going the JB route that I should use that marine grade stuff as it's intended to withstand gas and other chemicals of the such..
