How do I cut the carb spring? Do I need to remove them or can I cut them in place?

You can unscrew the caps, push the spring into the carb slide enough expose the top of it, and clip off the coils with wire cutters. Then just remove the cut end by threading it around the cable like you would keys on a key ring. On another note, I was digging through a drawer of parts and came across a set of carb boots. Made me realize that the electric start kit also came with boots to swap out.

Thank Tom, you don't by chance have a part number for that electric start kit do you?

I don't believe I do, but I can check some old books just in case I do.

I haven't found any information yet, but I may come across the installation instructions at some point. I'll keep my eyes open for them.

I found the electric start installation instructions. Has a complete parts listing, but not specific engineering numbers. The electric start kit did have a motor plate and carb boots with it. The starter kit is part number 861 5030 00

Thanks! I ended up putting a recoil from a 2015 REV on it and it pulls much easier. I also made the decision to sell all my sleds so I can get something newer. So we'll see how that goes LOL
