Good Morning, picking up a 335 today that has been sitting a long time and is stuck. It pulled over a few years ago but dosent now. Was told it was running when parked many years ago. What do you recommend for getting it unstuck? I was told to dump ATF in the cylinder and let it set for a few days and should free up. is this true? Also I'm probably gonna rebuild it from bottom up. Can anybody tell me what bearings I'm gonna need and where i can get the gaskets and rings and anything else i need to do a complete rebuild. Thanks

There's any number of fluids you can put into it through the spark plug hole...ATF, diesel, liquid wrench etc. Might as well remove the carb now and dump some 2cycle oil directly into the case. The sticking points are typically pistons rings to the cylinder wall or frozen crank bearings. Let it sit for a few days then start with the easy one...put a big wrench on drive pulley and ease it back and forth, you might get lucky and it will let go. If that doesn't work there are other approaches using heat and/or force that some of the other guys here can explain better than I can. As far as rebuild parts try "Vintage Doo Parts Bin" or Goose, both have banner ads at the top of this page, both reall good guys to deal with. Good luck.

Try to spin the clutch off while it's still seized up. Either the clutch will wome losse or the engine will. Once the clutch is off you will be able to tell what year it is and which bearings you will need. Post up once you make some progress and we can help you more.

There's a guy in beechers falls vt who rebuilds motors and has parts, name elancrazy on dootalk, if you're nearby he'd probably hook you up. Wish i lived near a guy like that as i have 335 problems myself and can't figure it out over the internet.

I got my 63 chassis from mike in Beecher falls, nice guy, lots of elans. It's way up there though, last town in the northeast corner of VT. Two miutes from NH and Canada. I know of a good shop a little closer to me if you wanted someone to rebuild it for you. Let mek now if you need anything.

Thanks for the replies. Can anyone give me the crank bearing numbers, and any other bearing numbers for the 70/335. Thanks
Doonut
The original part numbers were 402 1005, then to 420 932820, deep groove ball bearings. For the 1970 models. The 1971 335 had different PTO bearing numbers, which is a taper roller bearing, has a removeable PTO plate behind the clutch. The bearing size is 6305NRC4, for the 1970 model. Hope this helps.

So just to state. Any 6305 bearing will fit your crank. The c4 is a designation for the bearing fit. C4 is typically a bearing with a little larger id and a little smaller od , primarily used fo rebuilds to lessen preload and and ease of installation. With differences of about .0005 or more from standard fit bearings. The nr is deep groove designation, not necessary but promotes longer wear and quicker break in periods.

Thanks you guys for the replies. 6305 was what I was looking for. I have asked other questions about specific part numbers and have gotten back original part numbers that dont mean much to me. Am I missing something is there a way to cross reference that i dont know about? If I was to go to napa to get these bearings and gave them the original numbers could they cross reference? Where do you guys find the info about the parts and part numbers? Sorry for all the questions just want to learn and get all the info I can. I want to rebuild my 70/335 and want to have all my parts ready to go before i tear into it. Thanks again!!

I think we are off course a bit here fellas
The original part # for the crank shaft end bearings for the 70-335 is 402-1124, that is a roller bearing not a ball bearing.
Actual bearing # is NU305C3 I doo believe. Same bearing both ends of crank.

It is roller bearings on the 335 for the 1970 model. My mistake : , was looking at the part number for the 299 engine for that year.
