I want to inspect the bottom of the tank on My 73 Elan before I go and replace the fuel lines. What are some quick ways of getting the tank out.
Thanks, Marty

theres no quick way, just undo the strap and lines, then wiggle it out. if your belly is dented up you'll have a harder time getting it out, but once its out you can take a hammer and bang the dents out. You will have a nicer space to work with if you take the hood off, in my opinion at least.

Much easier with the hood off, but be careful and try to save the well nuts.

Its a good idea to take the tank out of your elan every once in a while anyhow. Almost everything you drop in the engine compartment ends up underneath that thing You never know who's treasures your going to find under it

Guys, thanks for the reply.
I was talking today with someone who suggested that tank may have a small leak somewhere and that the gas pools up in the belly pan. That may Explain the gas sometime leaking. Also picked up some heat shield material to cover the fuel lines with. I think I'll wait till the season over and see if the tank needs replacing. It would surprise me if Sled ED. Jr damaged the tank.
