Nico
I figured you guys would enjoy seeing a 797 in action
I put in a new track because it was impossible to get any traction in snow with any 114'' track. This was the first real test with the new track, it is all very tight inside the tunnel and as it turns out the track rubs against something causing it to act as a brake. Trap speed was only 101 km/h, it should have been doing 120-130 if everything was running freely, but it stopped accelerating half the way to the finish every time.
Had a great day anyway even if the sled ran nowhere near what it should. Some hardcore Yami guys had a hard time believing it was all stock except for the track and brake and I did at least outrun one of their frog machines during the day.
In the video I'm racing against an RV with 537 engine.

Way cool! Thanks for sharing, Nico.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that

That was great footage, I've never raced a sled but I can certainly appreciate why you guys Doo it!! Super nice sled. Love seeing those triples!
Ok, I've raced my brother in law a couple times in the corn field, but that doesn't really matter. He was driving a Yammi and lost most times
Nico
I'm glad you guys like it

How long are you straight pieces on your pipes?thanks hotdoo
Nico
I'm not sure what you mean, do you need measurements? The pipes are the stock ones and these are the measurements. Inner diameter on top, angle inside the pipe, section lengths below. Give or take a mm or 2 on the lengths, I measured as accurately as I could.

What is the type and dimensions of the track you used? Sweet sound!
Nico
It now has a regular 120" track. 32 mm fullblock.
It won't work with stock slides so I milled some narrower ones to make that work. Just the slides, not the suspension itself. I moved the suspension by drilling new holes in the aluminum extrusions. And modified some TNT link plates to move the rear axle. Replaced the drive shaft with a hex one with 8 cog 2.52 drivers.
Remaining problems are that the lugs rub against the rear of the tunnel, and the drive thingies on the track rub against the front cross bar on the suspension. To solve the first problem I'll cut a cm on each side of the track making it 36 cm wide, to solve the second I'm going to have to move that bar up a bit.
It's a lot of work because I want to be able to revert to stock if I feel like it, but this seems to be the only way I'm gonna get enough traction on the kind of surfaces I race on. Traction is awesome, like night and day compared to that Formula track! I think that once I solve these issues it'll give my Mach Z a run for its money In a 500ft race anyway..
Before I installed this track I installed a mid 80s Formula track, which only required narrower slides. But I can't get the power to the snow with that track it worked great on grass though.
