Yes olyman got the old one out WOW. Put the new one in runs like a rape ape idles good picks up instantly. This is a 2000 440 mxz that was given to me that had multiply things wrong with it burnt up piston on the pto side go figure the hornet as my boy calls it because he has been zipping around the yard with it has got some sting to it now.

Right on! Good job on the hornet save! That thing has a nice sound to it when it revs up. I bet it's got lots left in it now. Any idea why the seal crapped out so bad? Did it once have a bad crank bearing?

Not really sure when I saw the seal I was like holy crap how in the world did this thing run with a bad piston. I helped a friend move one weekend and the guy that we were moving was a big cat guy and he bought a cat but the deal was had to buy the ski doo and he said he hates ski doo but he wanted the cat so he got the dooo. So on one of the many trips we got talking about sleds and he asked if I would be interested in just taking the dooo I said you don't want anything for it he said nope you helped today and I just want it gone I'll never get the thing running. So I said well let look at it because I really didn't know what it was because had a tarp over it with stuff piled on top of it he said ok. We got back and I walked over to it and the first thing I saw was the stamping of 2000 series on the left side of the tunnel I said well it's 2000 he looked me and said how in the world do know that I showed him he was like huh guess you know your doos I laughed a little but when we got all the stuff and tarp off I then realized it was a 440 I was like sweeeet. Didn't run gas smelted and was out of oil so dragged up on the trailer brought it home. Ok I got off on the trail here but somebody obviously has had the engine out because fuel pump has been moved from underneath the engine to underneath the carbs and the coil has been moved from the air box to the intake side of the crankcase and has .20 over pistons. I know long story here.

Nothing like payment of Doo! Right on. Just for piece of mind have the engine good and warm, shut it down and grab the clutch & see if the crank wiggles up/down at all. If you can get some play in it, the bearing might be what happened to the old seal. Just an idea. At least you know what a bad seal in that engine sounds like. Glad it rips again.

Awesome. Nearly identical! Even better that you have your boy out there tearing it up with you. He will have vintage mxz's when he's older! Love it
