Had a bright idea for awhile and been doing some research on trying to install a rer system on my boys 2000 mxz440f. The part numbers are different on them calibration modules from year to year on some models. My question is are they doing the timing with them. When I had the recoil off to change the fan belt I noticed two threaded holes to put another pickup coil on so it would be possible to do it. I have reverse on my 440 but it is mechanical and for some reason I can't locate one for the chaincase to install.

My thoughts on the Ducatti calibration modules:....I think you can use any none RER module on any none RER sled. I know different part numbers but many times it is to doo with wire length etc. Yes I doo believe the timing is in the box but there is not gonna be much or any difference for the 380/440/503 engines. That is just my thoughts, no electrical, mechanical etc evidence to back it up. Yes you can install RER on the 2000 MXZ 440FC sled. You will need a different stator, two different pick up coils, different mag hub ( two exciter lugs on it), the calibration module for RER, RER button and a different secondary. The RER calibration modules seem to made of un-obtainium. See many guys looking for them, I think some have been changed back to none RER because they cant find the RER module. You lost me LOL with " I have reverse on my 440 but it is mechanical and for some reason I can`t locate one for the chaincase to install" You have mechanical and want to change to RER

Bones I have two mxz 440fc and both are 2000 models the one I bought brand new I had the dealership put a tach and reverse on it when it was new which is mechanical. The other 440fc was given to me last year which has nothing for reverse and I have been trying to find a reverse kit but have been unsuccessful.
I have done a lot of research between models and part# but when it came to the calibration module nobody knows a lot about them. I had sneaky suspicion that the timing was done with the module but wondered if the timing was a huge difference between engine models.
Thanks for the info Bones

OK got ya. Not sure if you are aware, but....You can use the mechanical reverse kit from the S chassis LC sleds as well, like grand touring and formula deluxe. You need to make some changes but it really is not hard and works 100%. Actually you can use any chain case internals from the F, S, or ZX sleds. Depending on what you find you may have to change the drive axle. But, you doo need the external shift linkage from a S chassis.

Thanks Bones that is what I was going to do first when I received this sled but for some reason I get the crossed eyed outer space look all the time. I was going to try a couple different used sled places but you have to walk and hope you find something.
I have RER on my 02 mxz 600 which works great and the 04 legend 550f that I bought for my wife has it. I was going to try this route since more sleds were going this way and I can get everything secondary, jackshaft, trigger coils, stator, flywheel the only hickup was the module which nobody could tell me much about them.
